Snow Patrol Took Music Lessons Before Recording New AlbumSeptember 15, 2008
Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has revealed that some of the band took music lessons before recording their new album.
Lightbody said the group wanted to do “something extraordinary” for 'A Hundred Million Suns' - which is released next month – and needed to “shape up to do it.” "We really had to step up a gear to meet the ambition that we had," he told MTV News. "We're all reasonably good musicians. I just think that, between the five of us, we make an awesome noise. We fit.” The band's frontman also revealed that unlike the group's four previous albums, their new record is inspired by a working relationship – rather than one that is falling apart. "I wanted to make a record about love that was much more real than just saying, 'I'm happy.' I wanted to make a record that reflected on world situations within the context of seeing it through someone you love's eyes, and what that person means to you, despite how confused or frightened you may be,” he said. “There's darkness in there, of course, but there's real, proper, functioning love too. I wanted to celebrate something extraordinary that happened in my life, and I didn't want to mope about the end of it.” As previously reported, the band's album will also be released as an appliction for the iPhone and iPhone Touch.
