The Smashing Pumpkins Inducted Into Rock Walk Of FameApril 24, 2008
The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin have been inducted into the ‘Rock Walk’ in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
A rock version of the actual walk of fame, but much smaller and outside a record shop, musicians honoured dip their hands in cement and leave their imprint behind as a lasting legacy. Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Corgan admitted he had a difficult time about whether to accept the honour. He said: "I'm so used to bad vibes, people hating our band and throwing things at us. So it's strange to be honoured. "I had to think about it. I had to really lay in bed and think, 'Is this a good thing? Is this a silly thing?' I'm really honoured. I'm really touched." Importantly, Corgan said that early Pumpkins members James Iha and D’Arcy Wretzky should have been invited to the ceremony. "They should be here today. This is part of their legacy too,” he added.
