Roxy Music's Bryan Ferry Honoured With BMI Icon Award in LondonOctober 8, 2008
Roxy Music's Bryan Ferry was presented with a BMI Icon award for his songwriting at a ceremony in London last night (October 8th).
Ferry was honoured by the organisation for being the “epitome of Britishness and the ultimate combination of rock god and matinee idol.” He told the US society's annual dinner in the capital that he was privileged to be joining past winners such as Peter Gabriel and Van Morrison. “I’m very honoured to be part of your tradition of music because there are so many artists you have represented who are great idols for me throughout my career,” he said. Last night's ceremony also saw awards presented to Lily Allen and Modest Mouse, reports Music Week. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Bryan Ferry 'Seriously Ill' In London Hospital (06.04.2011)
