HMV Expect Joe McElderry To Overtake Rage Against The Machine TomorrowDecember 15, 2009
HMV believe the race for Christmas number one will swing in Joe McElderry's favour once physical copies of 'The Climb' go on sale tomorrow.
According to The Official Charts Company, the X Factor winner is currently trailing Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing In The Name' in the Christmas chart race by 10%. However, HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo issued a stark forecast, saying: "Whilst it's true that, since Sunday night, quite a few more fans have been downloading the Rage track from HMV's digital music store off the back of the internet campaign, we believe this trend will be reversed in a big way once the physical CD single of Joe's The Climb officially goes on sale in stores from tomorrow." Earlier today, Jon Morter, who started the Facebook group with his wife Tracy, issued a rallying call to Gigwise urging people to buy the Rage track. Jon said: “Keep spreading the word, but above all make sure you BUY THE TRACK and your friends BUY THE TRACK!!! “None of us may get another opportunity like this again.... WE CAN DO THIS as we're currently midweek chart No.1.” So far members of the Rage Against The Machine group have pledged £30,000 to Shelter. You can make your donation HERE.
