Radiohead: Reading and Leeds Shows Will Be 'Darker And Louder'May 19, 2009
Radiohead have promised a “darker and louder” set at the Reading and Leeds Festivals than their UK summer shows last year.
Bassist Colin Greenwood told the BBC they were slightly disappointed with the June 2008 shows as it was light for a huge portion of their set. Playing Reading and Leeds at the end of August, Greenwood believes UK revellers will get the full Radiohead live experience in the dark. He explained: “(It) should be darker and louder this time, as it's been a bit frustrating at some of the festivals, and some of our own shows last year, that it was light. “For the first 45 minutes of the show you could see our lighting designer slumped over his console. Considering how bright the lights are and how much work you put into it, it was a shame. So we wanted to come back and do it, so people can see it as it is meant to be, darker and louder.” Judging by the below-par system at Reading last year, surely it's going to be more a case of “darker and quieter”?
