Whitney Houston Booed As She Makes UK Gig Comeback

April 14, 2010
Whitney Houston Booed As She Makes UK Gig ComebackWhitney Houston was booed by audience members as she performed in the UK for the first time in 11 years last night (April 13).

Fans were left disappointed by lengthy costume changes during the two-hour show at Birmingham’s LG Arena.

According to some concertgoers, the 46-year-old singer also struggled with her vocals as she sang tracks from new album ‘I Look To You’ and her back catalogue.

Houston’s UK tour had been due to begin last week in Manchester, but illness forced three gigs to be postponed.

The singer, who had respiratory problems, told the crowd last night that she was “feeling pretty good with myself”.

But a series of delays, including a mid-show 15-minute costume change, disappointed some fans.

Critics were also been left divided, with The Sun saying the gig "was not the performance that fans had been hoping for".

The Daily Star said there were points when the singer was “out of time and struggling for breath due to the pesky AC”.

However, The Guardian said Houston’s performance showed she was “definitely back”.

Houston’s tour continues tonight (April 14) in Nottingham, before touring.
