Paul Weller Compares Jam Reunion To CabaretJune 2, 2008
Paul Weller has compared From the Jam, which consists of original band members Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler, to “cabaret”.
The former Jam frontman, who chose not to join Foxton and Buckler on a 25th anniversary tour last year, said he didn’t think the reunion was representative of the group. “I’m not mad about the idea, It’s a bit cabaret to me,” he told BBC 6Music. “I thought we were against all that, what we stood for.” Foxton and Buckler recently took the reunion to America, where they continued to tour with a guest vocalist instead of Weller. Asked if he ever missed being in the band, Weller replied: “No, not particularly.” “I quite like what today is. It was a lot of pressure, being that kind of spokesman for a generation,” he said. “Whether it was my own fault for setting myself up or not, I don’t know, but it was a lot of pressure for a young man. I certainly didn’t miss that” (by Jason Gregory) See also: Paul Weller Completes Work On New Album (05.04.2011)
