Paul McCartney Talks About Recent 'Dark Place'January 28, 2009
Sir Paul McCartney has appeared to make reference to his recent divorce from Heather Mills, saying he has “been through a dark place”.
The former Beatle's comments, published in today's Sun newspaper, came during an interview on US radio to promote his new Fireman album, 'Electric Arguments'. Sir Paul, who officially split from Ms Mills last May, said: “Love and light is mentioned a lot on the album. Parts of it are dark and edgy. “It could be because I’ve been through a dark place. I am a man who needs love. Every man needs love, guys like romance. I do anyway.” Sir Paul has always maintained a dignified silence over his divorce from Ms Mills, who was awarded a £24.3 million settlement from the former Beatle. But speculation that Sir Paul had addressed the former couple's split on 'Electric Arguments' first emerged last October, when tabloid reports claimed the album's opening song, 'Nothing Too Much / Just Out Of Sight' was about their relationship. As previously reported, there was growing speculation last weekend that the former Beatle is on the verge of proposing to his new girlfriend, Nancy Shevall.
