Noel Gallagher: 'Oasis Will Never Do A Radiohead'July 7, 2008
Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher says it's unlikely that the band will ever follow Radiohead by allowing fans to name what price they pay for their album.
“I wouldn’t have thought so. That’s not our bag,” he told the BBC. “I didn’t spend a year in the most expensive studio in England, with the most expensive producer in America, and the most expensive graphic designer in London to then give it away. Fuck that.” Radiohead shocked the music industry last October by ignoring traditional release methods with their latest album 'In Rainbows'. Fans were allowed to pay anything from 1p to £100 for the album. Despite saying that Oasis would never follow Radiohead's example, Gallagher did praise the band for the “marketing” methods they used to sell the record. “To be honest, to me it looked like marketing. Y’know? A great way of getting a load of marketing for free really, but good for them. That’s what they do, they’re rebels and outsiders,” he said. Oasis release their new album 'Dig Out Your Soul' on October 6th. It will be preceded by the single 'The Shock Of Lightening' on September 28th.
