Liam Gallagher Explains Why He Shunned Noel During Brit Awards SpeechMarch 15, 2010
Liam Gallagher has finally explained the reasons behind his decision not to credit brother Noel during his acceptance speech at the Brit Awards in February.
The singer appeared at the ceremony in London to collect the Brits Album of 30 years award on behalf of Oasis. But his acceptance speech omitted guitarist Noel, and he instead chose to acknowledge the other musicians who had featured on the album and Oasis' fans. In an interview with the blog Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Liam said: “I'm sick of it all being about me and Noel. “The last couple of months has pretty much been all about me and him so I thought it was only right to mention the other lads who played on the album and the best fans in the world.” The singer was also asked why he had chosen to throw the award into the crowd at Earls Court – a response which saw host Peter Kay brand him a “knob head”. “I thought it was a nice Gesture to give this to the fans, obviously it was misinterpreted as per usual,” Liam said. Oasis split last year after Noel said he could no longer go on working with his brother. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Noel Gallagher Backs LS Lowry Campaign (26.04.2011)
