Blur's Damon Albarn Likens Oasis To School Bullies During Britpop RivalryJanuary 15, 2010
Blur singer Damon Albarn has likened Oasis to school bullies during the height of their Britpop rivalry.
The 41-year-old icon makes the accusations in their rockumentary 'No Distance Left To Run' which premièred in London's Leicester Square last night. After admitting it was his decision to release 'Country House' on the same week as 'Roll With It' - the chart battle which Blur won - Damon said: "Noel used to take the piss out of me constantly and it really, really hurt at the time. “Oasis were like the bullies I had to put up with at school." In the candid interview, Albarn also said Blur's single 'Beetlebum' was about taking heroin, explaining: "That whole period of a lot of people's lives was fairly muddied by heroin. It's in that place. A lot of stuff was at that time." 'No Distance Left To Run' is released at select cinemas next Tuesday (January 19).
