Coldplay, Elbow, Duffy Score Ivor Novello NominationsApril 21, 2009
Coldplay, Elbow and The Last Shadow Puppets have all been nominated for Ivor Novello awards.
Duffy and the relatively unknown songwriter, Nick Hemming, who fronts The Leisure Society, have also received nominations. The awards ceremony will take place in London next month. Elbow and The Last Shadow Puppets will go head-to-head with Hemming in the category of Best Song. Elbow are also nominated for Best Contemorary Song alongside The Ting Tings and Calvin Harris and Dizzee Rascal. Coldplay and Duffy have been nominated for the same three awards: Best Album, Most Performed and Best-Selling British Song. The Best-Selling category also features M.I.A., who has received a nomination for the song ‘Paper Planes’. The Ting Tings are also nominated for Best Album for ‘We Started Nothing’.
