Gerard Way: 'My Chemical Romance Fans Face Long Wait For New Album'August 13, 2008
My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has hinted that fans may have to wait a while for the band's next album.
Way said the whole group needed time to rest and “go live” before they returned to demo songs for the follow-up to 2006's 'The Black Parade'. In an interview with MTV, Way, who also revealed he was planning a top secret project for DC comics, said the next album would be “very different” to its predecessor. “It's hard to say at this point, but musically, how Black Parade tapped into the glam, classic rock of Queen and Ziggy Stardust, this taps into something different — not punk, but maybe in its proto sense,” Way said. “The aesthetic — it is extremely different, and it is more stripped-down too. When we get a chance, we're going to get together and do some demos and start rolling.” He said that the band were “going to take it slow”, however, adding: “People need to kind of miss us because there was a point in the last two-and-a-half years where you could have seen us at least once a month if you wanted." Way also denied reports that claimed his new material was heading in a punk direction. (by Jason Gregory) See also: My Chemical Romance Uncertain About Killjoys Future (28.04.2011)
