Lead singer of Muse Matt Bellamy has revealed that George Orwell's dystopia novel 1984 has a had massive influence on the lyrics he has written for the next Muse album.
Speaking to the BBC, Bellamy explained how he reread the novel. “When I read it this time I was much more taken with the love story... I read once in school about 15 years ago it was all about the politics. But when I read it this time I was much more taken with the love story in the book between Juliette and Winston." Entitled 'The Resistance' and recorded at Bellamy's home studio on the banks of Lake Como, Muse's fifth studio album will be released on September 15. It will be preceded by a the single 'The Resistance' and contains the eleven songs the band have written. “It's as lean as could be, we wrote 11 tracks and that's it”, Bellamy added.
