Billy Bragg Slams Banker Bonuses At G20 ProtestApril 1, 2009
Musician, socialist and political activist Billy Bragg has taken to the streets of central London today to take part in the G20 protests.
The 51-year-old star, standing near Threadneedle in the capital, blamed bankers and their “million-dollar bonus culture” as one of the reasons for the frustration amongst the protesters. Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he said: "It's better than sitting down shouting at the television at these bankers. We cannot go back to the way things were before to the million-dollar bonus culture. "Bankers' bonuses should be taxed at 90% like in America. We feel frustration and we hope to send a message today that we are very angry. "We need them to know that people are not going to sit back and let this continue happening to us." (by Scott Colothan) See also: Radiohead and Blur Members Defend File Sharers (10.09.2009)
