Leona Lewis Bookshop Attacker Detained Under Mental Health ActDecember 14, 2009
A man who admitted punching Leona Lewis at a book signing has been detained under the Mental Health Act.
Peter Kowalczyk, 29, shouted “gotcha” as he hit the former X Factor winner with his right fist at a bookstore in London in October. In a witness statement read out at London's City of Westminster Magistrates' Court today, Lewis said the attack had left her “completely devastated”. "Now I am very frightened about going out in public and I don't know where the next attack will come from and if this will be more serious than what has just happened,” she said. Kowalczyk has been ordered by to remain in hospital for an indeterminate period of time, according to the Press Association.
