Stevie Wonder Pays Emotional Tribute To Michael JacksonJuly 2, 2009
Stevie Wonder paid poignant tribute to Michael Jackson at a show on Tuesday night.
The iconic singer was performing at the Montreal International Jazz Festival when he changed the lyrics to his global smash 'I Just Called To Say I Love You'. During the emotional rendition, he sang: "Michael knows that I'm here and I love you/By playing and buying your music to show your family we mean it from the bottom of our hearts/ Sure we mean it from the bottom of our hearts." Afterwards, he told the audience: "Don't get hung up on the negativity of what's being said. Keep him alive by celebrating his music and his legacy." Wonder and Jackson were label mates on Motown Records and sang together on the 1985 charity hit 'We Are The World'.
