Metallica Storm To The Top Of UK Album ChartsSeptember 15, 2008
Metallica have stormed to the top of the UK album charts with ‘Death Magnetic’, the metal band’s third UK number one.
The group’s ninth studio LP beat bookies’ favourite Glasvegas - despite only officially going on sale on Friday (September 12th). Glasvegas’ self-titled debut album charted at number two, while Mercury Prize winner’s Elbow returned to the top-10 with ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’. In the Singles chart, Kings of Leon’s ‘Sex on Fire’ was a new entry at number one, toppling America 23-year-old Katy Perry’s reign at the top. The singer’s controversial song ‘I Kissed A Girl’ fell one place to number two. Sir Cliff Richard failed in his bid to become the first artist to have a number one in six decades, charting at number three.
