Malawian Father Claims Madonna Has 'Robbed His Son'April 28, 2008
The father of Malawian child, David Banda, who was adopted by Madonna has accused the pop star of preventing him from seeing his son.
Yohane Banda, 33, says that he has not been allowed access to the child since the adoption process began two years ago. Speaking to the Times newspaper, Mr Banda says that he feels “robbed” and that he regrets ever putting the child up for adoption. “I should be able to see my son and say hello,” Mr Banda said. “I don’t know how he is growing, what person he is turning into. This pains me because it looks like he is not my son any more.” The drawn out adoption process is expected to come to an end in Malawi next month, with Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie set to be given full adoption rights. Until now, Madonna, who has been accused of using her celebrity status to fast track the process, has only had temporary custody of the child. Mr Banda added that Madonna had “promised” the he would be able to see his son and that the Malawian Government would “facilitate” his meetings. It’s not clear whether Mr Banda’s claims will be taken into consideration at next months hearing. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Adele's '21' Equals Madonna's Album Chart Record (28.03.2011)
