Iggy And The Stooges Perform Madonna HitsMarch 11, 2008
Iggy and the Stooges covered Madonna’s ‘Ray Of Light’ and ‘Burning Up’ as the singer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last night (March 10th).
Madonna said she felt like she had been “miraculously and continuously possessed by some kind of magic” during her career. Madonna was inducted into the prestigious roll of honour by Justin Timberlake, who collaborated with the singer on her new album, 'Hard Candy'. He told the audience: “Nobody has gotten into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame looking this damn fine. You're no old museum piece." Leonard Cohen, John Mellencamp, The Dave Clark Five and The Ventures were also inducted at the ceremony, which took place at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. It was a bittersweet occasion for The Dave Clark Five, whose lead singer Mike Smith died from pneumonia two weeks ago. Clark said before their induction that it would have been nice for the entire band to have been present. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Adele's '21' Equals Madonna's Album Chart Record (28.03.2011)
