Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart and Michael Buble For Haiti SongJanuary 22, 2010
Leona Lewis, Rod Stewart, Michael Buble and JLS have all signed up for Simon Cowell's Haiti charity song.
They're amongst the first batch of acts who will sing a version of R.E.M.'s 1993 classic 'Everybody Hurts'. According to The Sun, Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Take That and Sir Paul McCartney have also been asked to sing on the Band Aid-esque single. Leona said: "You can definitely count me in. What happened in Haiti is absolutely heartbreaking." R.E.M's manager Bertis Downs said that the band were “deeply touched” to learn their song has been chosen and are going to waive their royalties from the track. "We are deeply touched the song has been chosen for this Haiti campaign,” he said. "It means a lot that the song the guys wrote all those years ago will be used for such an important appeal." Meanwhile, Florence & The Machine are hoping to record a line for the song on their Australian tour and plan to donate proceeds from one of their shows to Haiti.
