Ray Davies Joins The Kooks At V FestivalAugust 18, 2008
Ray Davies joined the Kooks onstage yesterday afternoon for a rendition of The Kinks classic ‘Victoria’.
Luke Pritchard announced to the crowd that ‘this was the time to bring on a special guest performer’ before he introduced Davies. The veteran performer then took guitar duties on a somewhat disappointing version of the song. Just because you bring a legend onto stage with you for a song does not mean you can bump up your credibility Mr. Pritchard. Nethertheless fans still united their voices for other Kooks hits such as ‘Naпve’ and ‘Ooh La’ creating some of the more notable highlights of the performance. The rest of The Kooks set was typically predictable and failed to raise their status as a significant festival band. (by James Dannatt) See also: Ray Davies Wants The Kinks To Reform (12.04.2011)
