Lady Gaga Gives Support To Student In 'Gay T-Shirt' Row

Lady Gaga has given her support to a student who was sent home from school for wearing a T-shirt that made reference to her name.

Cole Goforth, 15, angered administrators at Greenbrier High School in Nashville with the design, which said: “I Heart Lady Gay Gay.”

Goforth, who is openly gay, said he was told that the T-shirt would cause a “distraction” to other students.

Lady Gaga took a break from recording new material to condemn the school's actions in a message on Twitter.

She wrote: “Thank u for wearing your tee-shirt proud at school, you make me so proud, at the monsterball, you are an inspiration to us all. I love you.X”

The singer said that the incident reminded her of her “commitment and love” for her fans, “and the deep unconditional devotion I feel to write music that will liberate you from prejudice”.

She added: “I love you Cole, you just be yourself. You're perfect the way God made you.”

Goforth's mother, Julie Gordon, told WSMV that her son had worn T-shirts with the word “gay” written on them in the past.

But claimed the school was now “singling him out” because of his sexuality.

However, administrators said that they taken action against the student because of an alleged altercation last week.
