Lady GaGa, Lily Allen Lead Female Charge At BRIT AwardsFebruary 16, 2010
Lady GaGa and Lily Allen are among the artists set to do battle at the BRIT Awards in London tonight (February 16).
Both singers lead a charge of female acts, including Pixie Lott and Florence & the Machine, with three nominations each. Allen, Florence & the Machine are in the running for Best British Album, while Lott joins them in the Best British Female category. Lady GaGa, meanwhile, is nominated for International Female, International Album and International Breakthrough Act. Elsewhere, the Best British Male category sees veteran Robbie Williams up against Dizzee Rascal, Calvin Harris, Mika and Paolo Nutini. Williams, who is also due to collect the Lifetime Achievement Award and perform at the ceremony, is favourite with the bookmakers. Muse, Kasabian, Doves, Friendly Fires and JLS are in the running for Best British Group. The ceremony at Earls Court is expected to be a star-studded affair, with Jay-Z, Lady GaGa and Cheryl Cole all set to perform. Hosted by comedian Peter Kay, the BRIT awards will be broadcast live on ITV1 from 8pm. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Lady Gaga: 'Judas' Video To Debut Next Week (28.04.2011)
