Lady GaGa's BRIT Awards Stage Show Costs 'Spiral Due To Last Minute Changes'February 16, 2010
The cost of Lady GaGa's performance at BRIT Awards in London has spiralled due to a flurry of last minute alterations, it's been reported.
The singer is understood to have originally been planning to unveil a stage show inspired by the British capital at tonight's ceremony. But she then scaled back the performance following the sudden death of friend and fashion designer Alexander McQueen last week. However, on Monday her advisers apparently asked the singer to revise the idea over fears a tribute “could appear crass”. The latest alterations are said to have angered organisers, who have now handed Cheryl Cole the coveted 9pm prime-time slot, and lead to a £100,000 bill for wasted production costs. It is also feared Lady GaGa may have jeopardised her chance of taking home any awards at the ceremony. A source told the Daily Mirror: “Now her show will be much more scaled down and Cheryl is taking her place in the running order. “Now everyone is worried she might lose out on an award over all the hassle.” Lady GaGa is favourite to win three awards at tonight's event, including Best International Female.
