Katy Perry Given Rihanna's Best International Song Award By Mistake In FranceJanuary 19, 2009
Katy Perry was handed one of France’s top music prizes last night (January 18th) - only to later discover she had been given the award by mistake.
The singer personally collected the prize for Best International Song at the NRJ Awards – but the honour was meant for Rihanna’s single, ‘Disturbia’. Host Nikos Aliagas admitted that a mistake had been made and apologised at the end of the show. Despite the blunder, Perry did legitimately collect the award for Best International album for her 2008 debut, ‘One Of The Boys’. Other winners included Enrique Ingelsias and Britney Spears, who picked up two awards for Best International Female and Best Single for ‘Womanizer’. The awards ceremony in Cannes, now in its 10th year, is voted for by French radio listeners. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Jessie J Wants Rihanna For 'Do It Like A Dude' Duet (26.04.2011)
