Kasabian: 'England Deserved What They Got At The World Cup'July 7, 2010
Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan has said that England “deserved what they got” when they slumped to an early exit at the World Cup.
The country were knocked out of the competition by Germany in the last 16, despite being amongst the early favourites to win. Meighan said he was upset the team failed in South Africa, but claimed people shouldn't always assume that England deserve to win. "I've been watching the World Cup and like everyone else, I'm miserable,” he told The Sun. "England deserved what they got. In the end no one turned up – nobody turned up again. In the end it's the same old cliché, everyone think they're owed the World Cup and they ain't. He added: “If I played football like I did music then we'd be world champions every day of the week." As previously reported, Kasabian are set to play two intimate UK gigs next month as a warm-up for the V Festival. The band will play Belsonic in Belfast on August 17 and the Brixton Academy in London on August 19. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Kasabian To Release 'Positive' New Album In October (27.04.2011)
