Kaiser Chiefs Back Out Of Potential Oasis And Keane Chart BattleJune 18, 2008
Kaiser Chiefs have delayed the release of their third album in order to avoid a potential chart battle with Oasis and Keane, it's been reported.
All three bands are scheduled to release their as-yet-untitled new records in October. Although release dates are yet to be confirmed, it's been claimed that Kaiser Chiefs will release their new album after Oasis but before Keane to ensure that it has a chance of clinching the top spot. Kaiser Chiefs are working with producer Mark Ronson on the album and have already confirmed that Lily Allen has recorded vocals for one song. "October is shaping up to be a month of big releases. Not only are the Kaisers and Oasis scheduling new albums for that month, but Keane are too,” a source told the Sun newspaper. "It’s going to be a titanic struggle at the top of the charts and the Kaisers want to get to Number one. "They think the best way of ensuring that does happen is to release after Oasis and before Keane." Kaiser Chiefs decision comes less than a month after frontman Ricky Wilson claimed that his band were the natural successors to Oasis.
