Wombats Star Matthew Murphy Reveals Pill Addiction

April 4, 2011
Wombats Star Matthew Murphy Reveals Pill AddictionWombats frontman Matthew Murphy has revealed that he has battled an addiction to anti-depressants.

Murphy became reliant on the drugs in 2007 and finally overcame the addiction when he realised he had put on weight.

He told The Sun he also moved back in with his mother in Liverpool to kick the habit.

"I'd go into the studio for eight hours every day and smack my head against the wall until one idea, one lyric, one hook came. Some days, it didn't," he said.

Murphy added: "I started putting on a lot of weight. That was the main reason I wanted to come off them. I hated going on stage and feeling fat."
