Weezer Cover Lady Gaga, MGMT And Wheatus At Reading Festival 2010

August 30, 2010
Weezer Cover Lady Gaga, MGMT And Wheatus At Reading Festival 2010Weezer covered songs by Lady Gaga, MGMT and Wheatus during their set at the Reading Festival yesterday (August 29).

The US band drew a huge final night crowd to the main stage ahead of Paramore and headliners Blink-182.

The band played a medley of MGMT's 'Kids' and 'Poker Face' by Lady Gaga towards the end of their set.

Frontman Rivers Cuomo dressed up for the songs, donning a headpiece for 'Kids' and a blonde wig during 'Poker Face'.

During the latter song he fell into a pile of mud in front of the stage and proceeded to embrace the crowd, who were only to happy to reciprocate the hug.

Weezer, whose appearance at Reading and Leeds marks their first UK appearance in years, were accompanied by The Vandals drummer Josh Freese.

Aside from their covers, the band’s set relied heavily on their greatest hits, including the songs ‘Surf Wax America’, ‘My Name Is Jonas’ and ‘Hash Pipe’.

And the hits continued with closer 'Buddy Holly', which saw Freese lead an extended drum solo at the climax.
