July 28, 2010
Professor Green To Open New Academy Venue In LeicesterProfessor Green is set to become the first act to headline the new Academy venue in Leicester.

The British rapper will play the 1,450 capacity venue on September 23.

“It is a real honour to be asked to perform at the opening of Academy Leicester,” Professor Green said.

“No doubt it will have the great energy and vibe that all Academy venues have and I look forward to being the first headline act to grace the stage.”

The Academy is located on the University of Leicester campus. A further two venues are also set to open.

The Magic Numbers, Corinne Bailey Rae and Plan B are all lined up perform at the venue in the coming months.

Tickets for Professor Green's show go on sale on Friday (July 30) at 9am.
