Kele Okereke: 'I Had A Britney Spears Meltdown'

May 4, 2010
Kele Okereke: 'I Had A Britney Spears Meltdown'Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke has revealed that he decided to cut his hair because he was having a “meltdown”.

The normally dread-locked singer recently unveiled a new shorter style ahead of the release of his solo album 'The Boxer' next month.

In an interview with XFM, Okereke compared his transformation to Britney Spears, who infamously shaved her head in 2007.

“I was doing a Britney,” Okereke who is performing under the name Kele, said.

“I’d had enough and I needed to start again… I was having a meltdown. I was attacking photographers with my umbrella and not being so good to myself.”

As previously reported, Okereke has announced details of his first full solo tour.

Tickets go on sale on Friday (May 7) at 9am.
