Jimi Hendrix Guitar, Beatles' Contract Fetch Thousands At Auction

September 5, 2008
Jimi Hendrix Guitar, Beatles' Contract Fetch Thousands At AuctionJimi Hendrix's Fender Stratocaster, which he famously torched on stage in London, has fetched £280,000 at auction.

Hendrix torched the guitar, which had been expected to raise £500,000, during his gig in Finsbury Park in 1967.

The guitar formed part of an extensive auction of rock'n'roll memorabilia, which also included a drum kit belonging to the late Led Zeppelin sticksman John Bonham.

The first Beatles first management contract, signed by the whole group, was the second most popular item, raising £240,000.

The auction at London's Idea Generation Gallery also saw the sale of the only remaining fingerprints of Elvis Presley.
