Goldfrapp Score John Lennon Movie BiopicOctober 19, 2009
Goldfrapp have scored the soundtrack to an upcoming movie about John Lennon's younger years.
The directorial debut of Sam Taylor-Wood, 'Nowhere Boy' is based on the book 'Imagine This: Growing Up With My Brother John Lennon' by Julia Baird about her half-brother's pre-Beatles life including when he first met Paul McCartney. Speaking to Music Week, Alison Goldfrapp said: "It's a traditional score for a film, the music is very orchestral and I use my voice as part of the instrumentation to help drive the story along." Her bandmate Will Gregory added: "The editors of the film knew our music and they just asked us to do some little things to begin to help them develop the film. "It was a great opportunity because it's such a hard world to get into, doing music for film. It was fantastic that they had faith in us and they could believe we could do it." Producers are currently in negotiation with Yoko Ono to include original John Lennon songs in the film. 'Nowhere Boy' hits cinemas on October 29.
