Tom Jones 'Offered James Bond Role'October 4, 2010
Tom Jones has revealed that he was approached about playing James Bond.
The 70-year-old star said his name was mentioned for the role but it was decided that he was too well known as a singer. “When I was young I would have liked to be James Bond – and at one time it was discussed,’ he told Smooth Radio. “I think it came from Cubby Broccoli, who was in charge – and when my name was put forward, he said, ‘Tom Jones is so recognisable as Tom Jones – he’s a character, he’s become this singer with a big character’.” Jones released his latest studio album 'Praise & Blame' earlier this year. He is due to play The Princes Trust Royal Rock Gala in London next month. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Tom Jones To Play Isle Of Wight Festival 2011 (26.11.2010)
