Razorlight's Johnny Borrell Plays Surprise First Gig With New BandSeptember 13, 2010
Razorlight singer Johnny Borrell played a surprise first gig with his new band in Brighton on Saturday night (September 11).
The group, whose name is not yet known, played a low key five-song set in support of The Like at Audio. Gigwise reporter Matt Pinder said Borrell, who was wearing a white t-shirt and scarf, kept chat to a minimum during the performance. He said the band's music "didn't really sound like Razorlight - it had an Americana feel with Beck influences". And that Borrell's guitarist and bassist were dressed "like cowboys with big hats and waistcoats". The Like had earlier revealed details about the show on their Twitter page. They wrote: “Surprise! The special guest opener tonight at Audio in Brighton is Johnny Borrell's new band! Not a joke... They're on in an hour.” As previously reported, Borrell is among the acts confirmed to appear at this month’s Oxjam event in London.
