Aerosmith's Steven Tyler And Jennifer Lopez Unveiled As American Idol Judges

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have been unveiled as the new judges on American Idol.

The pair will join existing judge Randy Jackson on the judges' panel when the programme returns for a 10th season next year.

Tyler, who had been widely linked to the role, said the opportunity felt like “the perfect feathered nest”.

He added: "It's being a part of something much bigger than yourself. I want to bring some rock to this roller coaster."

Lopez said: "I'm looking for the next Michael Jackson.”

Former American Idol judges Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell all stood down after the ninth seasion. Audtions for contestants for 2011 are ongoing.
