Yeah Yeah Yeahs Blitz London's Brixton Academy

December 1, 2009
Yeah Yeah Yeahs Blitz London's Brixton AcademyYeah Yeah Yeahs played the first of their two sold out Brixton Academy shows in London last night and brought their typically extravagant stage show with them.

In between outfit changes, inflatable eye balls and exploding glitter cannons the band performed hits from their entire history ranging from early EP cut 'Art Star' to this years smash hit 'Zero'.

After starting the UK tour in Leeds the previous night Karen O was in suitably feisty form, writhing on the stage and grabbing everyone's attention in her multi coulred Native Indian headwear.

The action kicked off with the group performing 'It's Blitz!' track 'Runaway' behind a large black sheet which soon dropped to reveal the band exploding into action.

After wowing the audience with the likes of 'Gold Lion' and 'Heads Will Roll' the band performed a three song including an acoustic performance of 'Maps' which Karen O dedicated to "All the lovers in the audience."

The hour and a half set the came to a thrashing end with a rousing 'Date With The Night'.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs will now go on to play sold out dates in Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and Bournemouth.
