Slash: 'Velvet Revolver Wanted To Sound Like Guns N' Roses'

November 27, 2008
Slash: 'Velvet Revolver Wanted To Sound Like Guns N' Roses'Slash has revealed that when he formed Velvet Revolver he wanted them to sound like his former band Guns N' Roses.

The guitarist, who left Guns N' Roses acrimoniously in the early 90s, said their ambition only changed with the addition of singer Scott Weiland, who left earlier this year.

"We wrote a ton of shit that was really heavy, and it was sort of what you'd expect us to sound like," Slash told Spinner.

"And then it changed to fit the whole Scott [Weiland] vibe."

Slash also spoke about Velvet Revolver's ongoing search to find a replacement for Weiland, admitting that it is a “hard spot to fill”.

"But I think we can really put together a record where people will be like, 'Now that's what I'm talking about,” he added.

As previously reported, Slash recently praised Guns N' Roses new album 'Chinese Democracy', saying he was “glad” frontman Axl Rose had finally released it.
