Green Day have leap straight to
number one with their new album "
21st Century Breakdown" after just two days on sale, knocking
Bob Dylan off the top spot.
The band’s eighth studio album, was released worldwide on Friday 15th May and is one of only four albums in the last five years to debut at number one after a Friday release date according to the Official Charts Company.
Most recent was Metallica’s "Death Magnetic" in 2008 while Eminem has achieved the feat twice, with "Encore" (2004) and "Curtain Call – The Hits" (2005).
Meanwhile, in the singles chart Black Eyed Peas' comeback single, 'Boom Boom Pow', ended Tynchy Stryder's stay at number one.
