George Michael Denies Special Jail TreatmentOctober 4, 2010
George Michael has denied reports that he has received “special treatment” during his time in prison.
The 47-year-old singer, who is still behind bars, said he feel compelled to respond to the “rubbish” reports for his family and fans. "So please believe me when I tell you that in the last three weeks, there have been no tears, no anxiety, no bullying - in fact, not so much as a sleepless night for me,” he said. "On the contrary, I've been treated with kindness by fellow inmates and prison staff alike and, as far as I can tell, have received no special treatment of any kind whatsoever, unless, of course, some of the guys here are letting me win at the pool table.” The former Wham! star added that he had been spending most of his days readings letters from fans, and that he would “repay their kindness” with new music. Michael was jailed last month after pleading guilty to possessing cannabis and driving under the influence of drugs. He is due to serve four weeks at Highpoint Prison in Suffolk and four weeks out on probation. (by Jason Gregory) See also: George Michael Says It Won't Rain At Royal Wedding (28.04.2011)
