Girls Aloud Team Give New Franz Ferdinand Album 'African Rhythm'

Franz Ferdinand have spoken about work on their as-yet-untitled third album - which features Girls Aloud’s production team.

Speaking to 6 Music, frontman Alex Kapranos said that the group were currently working on the follow-up to ‘You Could Have Done It So Much Better’ in Glasgow.

“We’ve been writing and we’re just recording at the moment; we’re about a third of the way through,” he said.

Kapranos described the record as “very rhythmic”, adding that the group had been listening to a lot of Ethiopian music.

“I guess we wanted to come up with something a little different, a little new,” he explained.

“So the sound evolved a little over the year. We spent last year writing and getting a new sound together I suppose.”

Any release dates for the project have yet to be confirmed.
