Axl Roses Sues Guitar Hero Maker Over Guns N' Roses Slash ImageryNovember 24, 2010
Guns N’ Roses star Axl Rose has filed a lawsuit against the makers of Guitar Hero over the appearance in the video game of former bandmate Slash.
In a lawsuit filed at Los Angeles Superior Court, Rose claimed the song ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ violated a deal not to include imagery of Slash. He said that Activision also assured him that there would be no reference to the guitarist’s new band Velvet Revolver. In the $20million complaint, Rose said the game maker "began spinning a web of lies and deception to conceal its true intentions to not only feature Slash and VR prominently in 'GH III,' but also promote the game by emphasizing and reinforcing an association between Slash and Guns N' Roses and the band's song ‘Welcome to the Jungle’”. Rose’s lawyer Skip Miller told Reuters: "The relief we are seeking is disgorgement of profits and compensatory and punitive damages." Activision have declined to comment on the lawsuit.
