Taylor Hawkins: 'New Foo Fighters Album Could Sound Like Anything'May 24, 2010
Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has warned fans not to expect a certain sound from the band’s new album.
In March, singer Dave Grohl claimed the as-yet-untitled, to be produced by Butch Vig, would be their “heaviest album yet”. However, in an interview with XFM, Hawkins said his bandmate may have spoken to early about their next direction. “You’ve got to be careful [because] you’ll eat your words,” he said. “Next thing you know we’re playing with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and it’s not the hardest record we’ve ever made, it’s the most symphonic record.” He added: “Anything can change with our band. In the past we’ve recorded albums twice, finished whole records worth hundreds of thousands-worth of dollars... only to re-record it in a week in Dave’s basement. “You never know how it’s going to end up”. Grohl has previously revealed that the band are due to begin recording the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Echoes Silence Patience & Grace’ in September.
