Mumford And Sons Surprise Winners At BRIT Awards 2011February 16, 2011
Mumford and Sons were the surprise winners at the BRIT awards in London, taking home the coveted British Album Of The Year.
The band's debut 'Sigh No More' beat albums by the likes of Plan B, Take That, Tinie Tempah and The xx. Singer Marcus Mumford looked shocked as they accepted their award, choosing to thank their family and record label. Tinie Tempah was the big winner at the O2 Arena in London, winning British Breakthrough Act and Single for 'Pass Out'. Plan B won British Male Solo Artist, while Laura Marling won the female category. Take That, who have reformed with Robbie Williams, were named British Group, and singer Mark Owen thanked Williams for rejoining the band during their speech. In the international categories, Arcade Fire won International Group and International Album for 'The Suburbs'. Rihanna was named International Female Solo Artist and Cee Lo Green took home the honour for International Male Solo Artist. James Corden hosted the ceremony.
