Editors Play Intimate Acoustic Show For Mencap

November 17, 2009
Editors Play Intimate Acoustic Show For MencapEditors kicked off the Mencap Little Noise sessions last night with a special acoustic performance at the Union Chapel in London.

The band were part of a special line up curated by charity patron Jo Whiley and included newcomers Everything Everything plus Bombay Bicycle Club and The Maccabees.

Manchester's Everything Everything gave a confident performance which belied their tender years and saw the band performing alongside a string band from the Royal College of Music.

Bombay Bicycle Club and The Maccabees both played exclusive covers during their sets. The Maccabess chose to perform the little know I Am Kloot's 'Because' whilst Loudon Wainwright III's 'Motel Blues' was performed by Bombay Bicycle Club's lead singer Jack Steadman.

Introduced to the stage by Jo Whiley and Gavin and Stacey star Mat Horne Editors played an intense if not seamless set. Lead singer Tom Smith regularly made false starts including singing the incorrect lyrics to 'Papillon' but pulled things together for a rousing finale of 'Fingers In The Factories'.

The Mencap Little Noise Sessions continue all week and will see exclusive performances from Florence and The Machine, Alexandra Burke and Lostprophets.
