Adele, Tinie Tempah Enjoy BRIT Awards UK Charts BoostFebruary 21, 2011
Adele, Tinie Tempah and a host of other artists have enjoyed a post-BRIT Awards sale boost on the UK Charts.
Adele's song 'Someone Like You' climbed 46 places to number one after she performed it at the ceremony last week. The song is accompanied in the top-5 by her recent single 'Rolling In The Deep', while the singer's new album '21' is at number one on the album chart and her debut '19' climbed to number four. The singer has become the first living artist to simultaneously score two top five hits in both the UK singles and album charts since The Beatles in 1964. Meanwhile, breakthrough winner Tinie Tempah's 'Disc-Overy' was up to number six from 19, while Mumford and Sons 'Sigh No More', which won Best Album, climbed to number two. Martin Talbot, Managing Director of the Official Charts Company, said: “It is a fantastic week for both Adele and the BRITs. For Adele to match a record of the Beatles is an extraordinary, historic achievement." "The BRITs has truly impacted on the music market this year, across the seven live performance downloads and in the album sales of both performers and winners.” (by Jason Gregory) See also: Adele: I Love Prince William And Kate Middleton (28.04.2011)
