Jack White, Karen O Snubbed As Oscars Unveil Original Song NominationsFebruary 2, 2010
Jack White and Karen O have both failed in their bid to land a nomination for this year's Academy Awards.
White's 'Fly Farm Blue', from It Might Get Loud, and Karen O's 'All Is Love', from Where The Wild Things Are, were among 63 songs contending for a nomination in the category of Original Song. But both acts had been overlooked when the shortlist was announced in Los Angeles today (February 2). Instead, Randy Newman scored two nods for 'Almost There' and 'Down In New Orleans' from the movie, The Princess and the Frog. The Original Song shortlist was completed by Reinhardt Wagner's 'Loin de Paname', from Paris 36, Mury Yeston's 'Take It All', from Nine, and 'The Weary Kind' by Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett, from Crazy Heart. In the other music-based category, Avatar, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Hurt Locker, Sherlock Holmes and Up were nominated for Best Original Score. The 82nd Academy Awards will be presented on March 7 in Los Angeles. (by Jason Gregory) See also: The White Stripes To Release Final Gig As Live Album (11.04.2011)
