Faithless Play 'Loudest Gig Of The Year' At Sziget Festival 2010

August 13, 2010
Faithless Play 'Loudest Gig Of The Year' At Sziget Festival 2010Faithless headlined the second night of this year’s Sziget festival in Budapest last night (August 12).

The dance act thrilled 25,000 fans with a career spanning set on the main stage.

Singer Maxi Jazz paid tribute to the Hungarian crowd, describing them as “the loudest crowd we’ve had this year”.

Opening with ‘Happy’, Faithless’s set mixed between their club hits, including ‘Insomnia’ and ‘God Is A DJ’, and songs from recent album ‘The Dance’.

The group also played a hard-hitting version of the politically charged ‘Mass Destruction’, and showcased a number of guitar-led numbers.

Despite arriving in Budapest of the back of a heavy touring schedule, Faithless put on a restless spectacle.

Jazz bounded about the stage throughout he set, while Sister Bliss provided a dramatic spectacle on keyboards.

After again thanking the crowd, it was Faithless’s encore that attracted the biggest reception, finishing with a raucous rendition of ‘We Come 1’, which saw the audience shouting “one” in unison”.

Located on Óbuda Island in the heart of the Danube river, Sziget features numerous stages - ranging from heavy rock to dance.

Earlier in the day, John Lydon’s Public Image Ltd also played on the main stage, opening their set with ‘This Is Not A Love Song’.

The band also entertained a strong crowd with ‘Rise’ and ‘Open Up’.

The former Sex Pistol was followed on stage by The Specials.

After a lengthy delay arriving on stage, the Coventry band thrilled fans with their ska hits, including ‘Ghost Town’ and ‘A Message To You Rudy’.

In testament to the hot weather, which reached highs of 34 degrees, guitarist Roddy Radiation ended the set topless.

Other performers on day two included Gorillaz Sound System, Aeroplane and Simian Mobile Disco.

Sziget continues today (August 13) with a headline set from 30 Seconds To Mars, as well as performances from Mika and zZz.
