Blink 182's Travis Barker: 'My Biggest Fear Was A Plane Crash'October 8, 2008
Blink 182's Travis Barker has spoken for the first time about surviving a plane crash in South Carolina which killed four people.
Barker and his musical partner DJ AM both escaped with burns after their Learjet careered off a runway last month. Speaking to US Weekly, Barker said that he “hates planes”, adding that his biggest fear in life was being involved in a plane crash. “When that happened, well, I'm just thankful to be alive. I'm just grateful to be here at all," Barker said. As previously reported, Barker travelled home to Los Angeles via bus when he was discharged from hospital. Barker said he was “doing the best I can possibly be” given the extent of his injuries. "I'm so anxious to get out of here. I've just been in surgery after surgery. I have third-degree burns basically from my feet up to my waist and both hands,” he said. "One of my hands has second-degree burns and one has third-degree burns. I'm trying to have a quick recovery and play the drums again, and be able to hold my kids again." Barker's assistant, Chris Baker, and bodyguard, Charles Still, were among those killed in the incident. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Blink-182 Postpone UK And Ireland Tour Until 2012 (18.04.2011)
